A call for public debate on the
ALLOCATION OF A FREE-ACCESS FREQUENCY BAND
With this call, the art project radioCona – a temporary radio station for contemporary art starts the initiative for the allocation of a free-access frequency band.
We propose that a frequency band be allocated on a national level, not to any one particular medium, but available to temporary public projects that require a radio frequency for its realization. Such frequencies would be used free of charge by research projects, non-commercial contents in the sphere of the arts, sciences, education, civil society initiatives, NGOs, and similar users.
In this way, society is granted free access to public space – or a radio frequency as a public good. This opens up the field for realizing and advancing projects that provide new contents for radio/media space, which further contributes to the pluralism of the media. A media space is constituted that is free of marketing communications and exploitation of public goods such as media/radio space.
For the duration of the Museum in the Streets project, that is, between 23 September and 18 October, the call for public debate on the ALLOCATION OF A FREE-ACCESS FREQUENCY BAND is free for posting comments.
